The exploits of three Ghanaian referees has attracted the attention of the European football controlling body, UEFA, in an unprecedented move that could reverse the flagging fortunes of the nation’s Knights of the Whistle.

They are assistant referees, Fallahu Rahman, 31-year-old Brong Ahafo-based Class One Referee, Issaka Afful, 32 years, and based in the Greater Accra Region, and another Accra-based Class One referee, Kwesi Acheampong Brobbery.

According to reports, the continental body had followed the exploits of the three young referees and confident about their future decided to share in their grooming for the biggest stage of refereeing.

The move comes at a time that Ghanaian refereeing has been struggling to redeem its image as it has lost its place in the elite bracket.

In accordance with UEFA’s plans to develop the potentials of referees, the three Ghanaian referees have been invited to undergo a refresher course in Nyon which begins today.
