Ashanti Gold defender, Tijani Joshua, has expressed how sad he and the other teammates are feeling with the downward trend of events at the club.
The current league champions are in a state of turmoil. CEO Kudjoe Fianoo is under pressure from the supporters to resign as well as head coach Bashiru Hayford having his fair share of the heat.
Coupled with the external pressure is the poor run of results in the league for the club. A side which won the league last season currently lies 14th on the league table with 12 points after 11 rounds of matches.
“We are not happy at all, whether we go for training or at home engaging ourselves in peer chat. We aren’t happy in whatever we do,” Tijani told Kumasi-based Boss FM.
“Where we are placed [on the league table] hurts us. It really hurts us but we don’t want to be eaten up by these problems so we are trying and forcing to turn things around. We hope that things will change.
“In life, sometimes it’s good and bad but I see we are experiencing the bad side. Last season, we won the league. Things went on well. We drew matches we were supposed to lose. It happens, we can’t get everything moving on smoothly all the time difficulties are bound to happened,” he added.
Tijani also denied the assertion that the players are deliberately sabotaging the club and the coach as well.
“When I hear such things it really hurts me to the core that we are not putting up our maximum best. Running up and down in this scorching sun, knowing perfectly that when I win my bonus is assured or somebody somewhere could offer me something.
“In our game against Edubiase we played on Wednesday and on Sunday too. On Wednesday [against Edubiase], I had an opportunity to head for a goal but collided with someone. I bled through my nose and was sent to the hospital. It was only after 9pm in the evening that the blood stopped. On Sunday too I played against Hearts of Oak. They can say that because things aren’t moving on smoothly but in our hearts we are doing our utmost best,” he explained.
In an earlier story, Bashiru Hayford has sent a letter to the club requesting for a 90-day leave and outstanding contract fees.
The Miners will play as guest in their next league match to Tema-based Inter Allies on match day 12 of the Ghana Premier League.
