6,000 Ghanaian footballers to be rendered jobless if FIFA bans Ghana - Lawyer Ntow Fianko

Former chairman of the National Division One League Board, Kwame Ntow Fianko has reiterated that over 6,000 Ghanaian footballers will be jobless should FIFA ban Ghana.

After the public premiering of the Anas Aremeyaw Anas documentary dubbed 'Number 12', all football-related activities in the country has been abruptly brought to a halt.

The government of Ghana is currently in court as it takes steps to dissolve the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over corruption, bribery, money laundering allegations.

However, FIFA issued a threat to the Ghana government to withdraw its court against the Ghana FA or face a ban.

The letter further stated that Ghana has been given an ultimatum of two weeks to withdraw the matter from the law court.

But the vociferous legal practitioner has cautioned government to take immediate measures to address the issue or else 6,000 footballers will lose their jobs should FIFA put Ghana on ice.

“I expected government to start the process of prosecuting individuals who were captured in the video receiving bribes and leave the Ghana Football Association as an institution. I think that is why FIFA has threatened to ban Ghana,” he told Ghana Crusader Radio.

“FIFA has no issue with prosecuting individuals caught on camera in the expose’. Its problem is about the direct interference into football activities.

“Government needs to do the right thing, else about 6,000 Ghanaian footballers, will lose their jobs if Ghana suffers a ban from FIFA,” he added.
