Aduana boss blasts Avram Grant over local player call-ups
Albert Commey - Aduana CEO

The Chief Executive Officer of Aduana Stars, Albert Aryeetey Commey, has questioned the criteria used in selecting Abednego Tetteh (Bechem United), Dauda Mohammed (Asante Kotoko) and Emmanuel Ocran (Wa All Stars) for the Black Stars squad for the last AFCON qualifying game in Accra last Saturday.

Mr Commey said he was puzzled about why Aduana duo Yahaya Mohammed, the league’s leading scorer, and Bright Adjei, whose recent two goals have been competing among the world best by CNN survey, were not given call-ups to the Stars camp for the Rwandan game.

While admitting that the idea to use local players in the game was a laudable one, the Aduana administrator however, expressed worry over the measures used in the selection process and called on the technical directors of the senior national team to come out and make it clear to the public.

“They are not being fair to our players and we are not happy with that or it is because they are playing for Aduana? Those players who were called, are they better than Yahaya Mohammed and Bright Adjei? If Tetteh scored a hat-trick to earn it didn’t Yahaya Mohammed also score a hat-trick in this same league?

Meanwhile, Mr Commey has sent a strong warning to representatives and agents of some local sides whom he claimed were pestering Aduana’s returnee coach, Ciaoba Aristica, to offer him juicy rewards for his (Aristica’s) services next season.

Last Friday, Mr Commey, who sounded furious over the telephone told the Graphic Sports that the Serbian coach had informed him about such ‘unholy’ calls and had asked his employers to make it known to those ‘parasites’ that he returned to Ghana purposely to serve the 2010 league winners.

“He came down particularly for Aduana and if anything at all he will prefer to remain with the club or go outside the country to continue his job and not to work for any other club in this country. I will, therefore, entreat all clubs to stay away from the coach so that he can concentrate on his job”, Commey concluded.
