Chief Executive Officer of newly crowned Ghana Premier League Champions, Aduana Stars, Albert Commey has indicated the club is satisfied with the prize money from winning the league.

Aduana Stars bagged $30, 000 as winners of the Ghana Premier League, an amount that has received public criticism, with many insisting the amount is very scanty.

However, the former Accra Hearts of Oak member indicated there is more to winning the Ghana Premier League than just the monetary reward.

“For me, I do not think the prize money is low because there are a lot of benefits associated with when a team wins the league,” he said. “The benefit that my outfit Aduana will get as league champions goes beyond the prize money. We should not narrow it to the prize money alone because my doors are open wider to the cooperate bodies demanding to associate with the club,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mr. Commey has advised club administrators to protect the brand of the Ghana Premier and also called on corporate Ghana to invest in the local game.

“We the administrators must be careful with our comment and make sure we do not spoil our brand. Other stakeholders must also contribute to making our game attractive” he said.

The Executive Committee Member of the Ghana Football Association also added the fact that the Ghana Premier League lacked an headline Sponsor meant they had to appreciate what was coming in.

“Human beings are insatiable and so if the prize money were to be 100,000 dollars, you will get people to complain base on his expenses. We did not have a sponsorship for the league and if the FA has been able to raise 30,000 dollars as prize money, then I think they should be commended”.

Aduana Stars will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League next season, with the objective of making it into the group stages.

The Dormaa based club are now two times Champions of the Ghana Premier League, having won it in their debut season.
