Head Coach of Ghana Premier League Champions Aduana Stars, Yussif Abubakar has reaffirmed the club’s desire to reach the group stages of the CAF Champions League.

Aduana Stars have been drawn with Libyan side Al Tahaddy in the preliminary stages of the competition, scheduled for the weekend of 9-11 February, 2018.

The two times Ghana Champions have ever progressed passed the first stage but Coach Yussif Abubakar insists the club is determined to reach the group stages of the competition.

"We have to be able to reach the group stages since it has been very long a club from Ghana achieved such a remarkable feat. With this, all Ghanaians are expecting us to get there," he told Light FM in Kumasi.

"This is because we are participating in the name of Ghana and that is our prime target for new season.

''We have to make sure we eliminate our Libyan opponents to advance from the prelims."

Coach Yussif Abubakar submitted his 24 man list for the CAF Champions League on Thursday and it included ex-kotoko attacker Yahaya Toure and new signings Caleb Amankwa and Hafiz Adams.

The last time a Ghanaian club reached the group stages was in 2012, it was the Berekum Chelsea team that had the likes of Solomon Asante and Gladson Awako.
