​Marek Hamsik Puts an End to Transfer Speculation by Extending His Stay With Napoli Until 2020

Napoli have announced on theirofficial websitethat their Slovakian midfielder Marek Hamsik has signed a contract extension with the Serie A club that will see him remain with them until 2020.


Hamsik, since arriving to Naples from Brescia in 2007, has been one of the club's most consistent performers, and has continually been linked with other clubs on the continent.


The 28-year old, who participated in his nation's Euro 2016 campaign this summer,has amassedmore than 400 appearancesfor the club, scoring 98 goals and tallying 93 assists.

The play-makerrevealed earlier this week thathe was set to stay at Napoli,although his club have only just confirmedhis contract renewal.


"I'm happy with my choice, I'm only thinking of Napoli," he told Mediaset.


"This is a team which plays attacking football and was put together to win something. Let's look forward."


The team from Naplesfinished second in Serie A last season, nine points behind league champions Juventusand begin their 2016-17 campaign at Pescara on August 21.
