Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger appears to be in the hunt for a new striker after Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi's agent revealed that the North London side have enquired about the availability of the Argentinean.
In an interview with Calciomercato quoted in the Evening Standard, Icardi's wife and agent Wanda Nara hasrevealed that Arsene Wenger's side have made an approach for the striker.
Narahas been involved in a public spat with Inter Milan Sporting DirectorPiero Ausilio after claiming her husband was being forced out of the San Siro.
The forward's agent has since made it public knowledge that Icardi was not short of potential suitors, should he leave Milan.
She said:"There are many offers, but I do not negotiate with other clubs. I only talk about Mauro's contract, that's my role, not doing negotiations. Atletico Madrid, Tottenham and Arsenal have made contact. Napoli and Roma are also interested now."
Despite the Gunners' second place Premier League finish last season, they scored the fewest goals of any side inthe top four.
Frenchman Olivier Giroud is the only recognised front man at the club, and notched just short of a quarter of the club's league goals last season, with Icardi's potential arrival sure to relieve the burden on Giroud's shoulders.
The Argentinean has scored 38 league goals in just 69 appearances during his time at the San Siro.
Meanwhile Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck, both who have been deployed as strikers in the past by Wenger cannot be relied on after the pair have suffered withpersistent injury problems.
Whilst Nara does state that Icardi's heart does remain with Inter following the fall out, the Gunners will be hoping that a tweet sent by Nara indicates the forward may be left with no choice but to look for a new club.
The agent's tweet translates simply as "Transfer Window".
Arsenal will be further boosted by Nara's admission that Italian duo Napoli and Juventus previous approaches for the signature of Icardi have been rebuffed.
In an interview with Tele Lombardia quoted in Forza Italian Football, Nararevealed that Inter had been approached for the services of the forward: "Juventus and Napoli are both interested in him (Icardi).He really was put up for sale by the club, and he turned down several sides."
