Ajax Confirm Premier League and Serie A Target Arkadiusz Milik Will Not Leave This Summer

Ajax have confirmed that a 'mutual agreement' is now in place with Arkadiusz 'Arek' Milik for the Polish international striker to remain in Amsterdam beyond the end of the summer transfer window, despite interest from clubs in the Premier League and Serie A.

The 22-year-old, who scored 21 times in the Eredivisie last season as well as once for Poland at Euro 2016, has been heavily linked with Everton and Leicester in recent weeks. Napoli have also been credited with strong interest.

However, Ajax have publicly stated that the player will definitelybe staying put for now, at least.

A statement from the Dutch giant read, "Ajax and Arek Milik have mutually agreed that the striker will not transfer to another club during the current transfer window."

Ajax director of football Marc Overmars had held talks with Milik and his representatives over the weekend. He remains contracted to the club until 2019 following last summer's permanent move from Bayer Leverkusen after an initial loan.

The player will now remain on holiday for an extended until 22nd July to allow him to fully rest and recuperate ahead of the new season.

"Unplugging for a while can only be good for him, we don't want him to be exhausted already in the winter." Ajax coach Peter Bosz was quoted as saying earlier this week.

It all means that those interested in the player will have to look elsewhere. Everton have also missed out on Graziano Pelle since yesterday after the Italian forward completed a lucrative move to China that will make him one of the highest paid players in the world.

Whether Leicester actually retained any interest remains to be seen. The Foxes were able to persuade Jamie Vardy to reject the advances of Arsenal and also recently bagged Ahmed Musa for a club record fee in excessof £16m.
