Ghanaian winger Albert Adomah scored his third goal in two games to help Aston Villa beat Sunderland in Chris Coleman's first game in charge of the struggling Black Cats.

The former Wales manager, Chris Coleman was appointed to replace Simon Grayson on Sunday.

Adomah turned in a cross from Robert Snodgrass in the tenth minute to put the home side in front before Josh Onomah's deflected 20-yard strike made it 2-0.

Lewis Grabban's hooked finish made it a nervy finish for the hosts but Villa held on to go fourth in the table, while Sunderland remain bottom.

The former Middlesborough player is enjoying one of the most prolific seasons of his career having scored 8 times already in the Championship.

Adomah was replaced in the 87th minute by Egyptian winger Ahmed El Mohamady.
