Alhassan Wakaso wants a new challenge following Lorient's relegation

Ghanaian midfielder Alhassan Wakaso has stated that he will look elsewhere to continue his football career following the relegation of Lorient from Ligue 1.

Wakaso's side could not maintain their premiership status after losing to Troyes in their promotional playoffs last week.

The 22-year old who joined Lorient just in January from Portuguese club Rio Ave after signing a three-and-a-half year contract says he wants to move.

As usual with clubs that get relegated, several of their top players either leave or are poached by clubs who feature at the top flight.

And Wakaso reveals he will welcome such a move but admits it is not his decision to make but that of the club.

“I would want to move to play at a club in a higher league but it is the club that must decide this,” he told FootballMadeInGhana.com.

“It will be difficult for me to leave because I still have a three-year contract with them.

“So even though I would like to leave, it will depend more on the club.”
