Antonio Conte's Chelsea Arrival Will See Diego Costa Remain at the Club

Chelsea striker Diego Costa will reportedly remain at the club to be a part of a new era under incoming boss Antonio Conte, the Telegraphreports.

The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away for Stamford Bridge this summer with his former club, Atletico Madrid, publically courting the Spain international on a sensational return.

Signed for £32m in 2014, the Brazilian-born striker was in sensational form under Jose Mourinho in his debut campaign- plundering 20 Premier League goals to help the Blues to the title.

However, last season saw Costa struggle to replicate that form and reports suggested his sour relationship with his now former manager Mourinho was the cause for the indifferent form.

That theory was given even more credence when his performances post-January dramatically improved under interim boss Guus Hiddink.

But with Conte set to take the reins, reports have claimed Costa has told friends he is keen on prolonging his stay in London to spearhead the new era under the Italian. The news will be positive for Conte, who is eyeing the possibility bringing Costa's compatriot, Alvaro Morata.

It is understood Conte is targeting the Real Madrid forward to partner Costa in a 4-2-4 formation next season, with new signing Michy Batshuayi acting as back-up to the pair as he acclimatisesto English football.

The former Juventus striker has been valued at £50m by last season's Champions League winners and although he is Conte's first choice, the Italian has already made contingency plans for another striker.

It is understood should Chelsea fail to capture Morata, Conte will target Southampton's Graziano Pelle, who starred for him up top in Italy's run to the quarter-final of Euro 2016.
