Arnautovic could play in derby

Published on: 20 September 2018

West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini is hopeful that Marko Arnautovic will be fit enough to start Sunday's London derby against Chelsea.

The Austrian had to be substituted in the second half of the Hammers' 3-1 win at Everton with a knee injury.

Arnautovic is receiving treatment on the problem but could feature against the Blues at London Stadium.

"Marko finished with a problem behind his knee against Everton," former Manchester City and Real Madrid manager Pellegrini said. "He's having some treatment and we will see if he can be fit for Sunday.

"I think Marko played very well against Everton and we hope he will have recovered for the next game."

However, Javier Rodriguez is still suffering from a virus and could miss Sunday's match while Jack Wilshere looks set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after having an ankle operation.

Pellegrini added: "[Manuel] Lanzini, [Winston] Reid and [Andy] Carroll are long-term. Javier Hernandez is still sick with a virus and Jack Wilshere has the problem with his ankle.

"The doctor can say more than me about what has happened with Jack. We will see how many weeks it takes him to recover."

West Ham, 17/4 to beat Chelsea, are 9/4 to clinch a top-half finish this season.
