Arsenal boss Wenger clashes with ref over Giroud pitch ban

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud was forced out of today's clash with Chelsea in China due to an administrative error.

The Sun says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was embroiled in a bizarre touchline row after Giroud was barred from coming on as substitute in the friendly against Chelsea.

Wenger was left arguing with officials as French striker Giroud was refused permission to come onto the pitch due to an admin error.

Giroud's name was not included on the official list of players named on the bench for the match at Beijing's Bird's Nest Stadium.

So the referee and his assistants refused to let the forward come on at the start of the second half – much to the fury of Gunners boss Wenger.

Kick-off was delayed as the Arsenal coaching team argued their case, with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte looking puzzled in his technical area.
