Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is seeking talks with England coach Gareth Southgate.
The 25-year-old claimed Southgate had not followed through on his public assertion that he would explain his thinking in a private meeting with Wilshere, after leaving him out of the squad to face Germany and Brazil this month.
Wilshere told the London Evening Standard: “No. He hasn't.
“He's got my number and he hasn't called me yet. If he wants to call me, my phone is always on. He didn't put me in the squad and had that to focus on. He said in the press what he wanted me to do: get in the team and play regularly, and that's what I'm trying to do. That's all I can do."
Wilshere added: “If [Southgate] sees me in that [deeper] position, I have to play in that position. At the moment, I'm playing a bit higher here and the boss sees me there.
“To be honest, that is probably my favourite position. At the end of the day, all I can do is try and get in the team. I've played everywhere."
