Arsenal midfielder Wilshere to be handed lifeline by West Ham

West Ham are looking towards Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere if the protracted transfer of William Carvalho falls through.

According to the Sun, Wilshere would join the Hammers on a season-long loan deal.

Wilshere is a free agent at the end of this season.

West Ham are refusing to meet Sporting Lisbon's £40m valuation of Carvalho, insisting they will not go above £35m for the Portugal international.

Wilshere has been told he can leave Arsenal on deadline day as he continues to recover from injury.

The 25-year old was recently sent off in an U23 match after instigating a mass brawl.
