AS Roma Line Up Loan Move for Disgraced Liverpool Defender Mamadou Sakho Following Klopp Omission

Serie A club AS Roma are lining up a loan-deal for Liverpool central-defenderMamadou Sakho, according toreports in Italy.


The report comes after newsigningMario Rui suffered acruciate ligament injury on Friday, meaning that Roma will need defensive cover ahead of the coming campaign.

After being cleared of drug-charges by UEFA, Sakho looked set to be a key figure for Liverpool this season, taking the No.3 jersey.

However, Reds bossJurgen Klopp sent Sakho homefrom their pre-season tour of LAafter the 26-year old showed 'a lack of respect' by missing a flight and a subsequenttrainingsession.


Sakho'sdisciplinaryrecord has now put his Liverpool future in doubt, and Roma are ready to swoop in for the powerful French defender.


According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma believe Liverpool are prepared to discuss a potential deal for Sakho, who played 33 times for the Reds last season.

Roma head coachLuciano Spalletti wants defensive cover signed before Roma's Champions League qualifier next month.


But he may face difficulty snapping up Sakho in that time, as the defender is currently recovering from aAchilles injury that will keep him sidelined for another three weeks.
