Former player of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and now assistant manager of the club, Akakpo Patron will act as interim Coach of the club ahead of the start of the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors sacked Coach Steve Pollack on Friday following the elimination of the club from the CAF Confederations. The Porcupine Warriors won 6-7 on penalties.

Akapko who was assistant to Polack will now be taking charge of the Kumasi giants as a stop gap coach.

The former WAFA Coach's new role came after Kotoko confirmed the sacking of the Englishman last Friday following the club’s failure to qualify to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The ex-player of the club  moved to Kotoko last year December as assistant coach. He joined the Porcupine Warriors from WAFA by signing a two year deal.
