World Cup: Antoine Griezmann (58') France 1-0 Australia

Antoine Griezmann has finally announced his decision to stay at Atletico Madrid, and the FC panel can't quite believe how he went about it.

With Antoine Griezmann yet to announce his decision on his future, the FC crew discuss whether staying at Atletico would show a lack of ambition.

Atletico Madrid announced a new contract for Antoine Griezmann on Monday, days after he committed his future to the club.

Griezmann signed a contract extension for an additional season to tie him to Atletico until 2023.

The French attacker had said in a television special last week that he wanted to stay at the club despite months of interest from Barcelona, who were reportedly ready to trigger his buyout clause when it dipped to €100 million on July 1.

Griezmann scored 29 goals and added 15 assists in 49 apperances in all competitions last season, helping Atletico Madrid win the Europa League.

While seeing Griezmann in France's World Cup camp in Russia, Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin also signed France defender Lucas Hernandez to a two-year contract extension until 2024.

Hernandez, 22, enjoyed a breakout season with Atletico that earned him a place in the France squad this summer. He made headlines after their opening win over Australia by admitting he was milking times by exaggerating injuries near the end of the game.

Thomas Lemar also signed his first contract with Atletico, pending only a medical, after the club last week agreed a deal in principle with Monaco to acquire the winger.
