Atletico Madrid's Saul 'Can Be Among Best Midfielders in the World' Claims Diego Simeone

AtleticoMadrid's Spanish star SaulNiguez has the potential to become one of the world's best midfielders, according to manager Diego Simeone and reported byGoal.com.


The 22-year-old Spanish starlet has risen through the youth ranks in Madrid football, having started out at Real Madrid. His season-long loan at Rayo Vallecano during the 2013-14 season turned out to be a vital experience.


The exciting prospect would later return to Atletico and would help them reach the Champions League final last year, where he scored a solo effort goal in the semi-final against Bayern Munich.

Simeone describedhow Saul is a talented player in his press conference beforeLos Rojiblancos' away match with Granada on Saturday.


"Always since I got to the club, beyond the goal of winning titles, that were achieved, I always said that I wanted to promote home-grown players," he told the media.


"Saul, Koke, Lucas Hernandez, Thomas Partey, it's a group of guys who always responded well since I arrived.


"Saul has all the conditions to be among the best midfielders in the world. He can shoot, pass, has rhythm and plays with his head."

The Spaniard is rapidly emerging as one of La Liga's most exciting players.


He has proven how capablehe is of taking on world class defenders and is now being backed by his Argentine boss. Saul will hope he can add another goal to Atletico's4-2 lead against Bayer Leverkusen in the second-leg match of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
