Former Black Stars striker, Augustine Arhinful have charged the Black Stars to win the 2017 AFCON in other to win the hearts of Ghanaians back.

The team recorded it lowest support in recent years when the Black Stars played Rwanda at the Accra Sports Stadium in the last AFCON qualifiers.

Many recommend that the team doesn’t deserve to be paid a winning bonus because the team have already booked their name in the 2017 AFCON. This generate many controversies ahead of the match. Unfortunately the Black Stars drew with Amavubi on Saturday.

But the former Stars striker have charged the players to win the AFCON to calm the supporters down.

Speaking to Asempa Sports, Arhinful said, “We are going through some phases but I believe it shall be well.

“I am not God but if Ghana win the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, will the supporters and the citizens be happy? It is unfortunate to see these things happening in our country but I believe it will end because all these disinterest started when we were knocked out of the 2014 FIFA world cup in Brazil.

“People always want to propagate the negativities and it is very obvious that it is not helping our football. I was not surprise to see the Black Stars playing and the supporter’s turnout was very low. It is all due to the negativities that we are focusing on. I am pleading that let it end because it is not helping our football.” Arhinful added.

The Black Stars of Ghana will take on Russia in an international friendly match in Moscow on Tuesday.
