Barcelona Reportedly Still Planning Summer Swoop for Arsenal Defender Despite New Contract

Barcelona are reportedly in talks to sign Arsenal right back Hector Bellerin this summer. Bellerin, 21,left the Catalan side for the Gunners as a 16-year-old in 2011, and has since grown into one of the most promising right backs in European football.

Now, according to Spanish paperSport, the Spanish giants are planning on bringing him back to La Liga. Barcelona are looking for a replacement for Dani Alves, who left for Juventus last summer, and are currently being forced to play Sergi Roberto out of position in the right back berth after an injury to Aleix Vidal.

Any move for Bellerin will not be cheap despite his disappointing performances recently, and his signature will still come at a premium. The move is rumoured to be north of £40m, and talks are said to be well underway with the player's agent.

Bellerin is said to be Barcelona's priority signing this summer, as they seek to rebuild a defence that has looked vulnerable this season. Barcelona are expected to contact the Gunners directly over Easter, when it is expected that Wenger's future will be clearer,as they look to have the move completed early in the summer.

Barcelona and Arsenal have a strong working relationship, with a number of players crossing between the clubs over the years, including Alexis Sanchez.

This would be the second time the Catalan club has resigned one of it's former La Masia products from Wenger's side, the first being Cesc Fabregas. Any switch for Bellerin would most likely eclipse the £35m the Blaugrana paid for the midfield maestro in 2011.
