The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Vincent Oppong Asamoah, has admitted that budget allocated to the Black Stars in preparations to matches is the cause of his outfit's inability to finance other sporting disciplines in the country.

He explained that the Ministry spends $1 million on away matches played by the Stars at the detriment of the other sporting federations.

In an interview with the Graphic Sports, Oppong Asamoah said "We believe every money spent by the Ministry must consider other sporting federations because the country spends $1 million on every away match played by the Black Stars".

This he described as "Mismanagement" that needs to stop if the Ministry is to cut cost and not continue being indebted.

"We can't continue like this and I think some payments needs to stop. We have mismanaged the system to the extent that we are not able to take care of most of our re-current bills," Oppong Asamoah noted.

Talking about the current relationship between his outfit and the Ghana Football Association (GFA), he however admitted the frosty relationship between them saying "I think we can do better. For now I don't think there is collaboration between us".

When asked about the Black Stars-Canada friendly in which the Ministry claimed they were not informed with the GFA insisting they told them about it, Oppong Asamoah explained that they only got to hear of the said match after Ghana's Embassy in Washington had written to them through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to confirm their involvement.

This he said prompted them to write to the GFA to furnish them with a detailed contract of the match in which they complied.

He however said the country must concentrate on developing grassroot football in the country if the future of the sport is to be bright.
