BREAKING: Wenger expected to sign two-year extension with Arsenal

Arsene Wenger is expected to sign a two-year contract extension with Arsenal when he meets with the club's board on Tuesday.

According to ESPN, the terms of the contract were negotiated between Wenger and the club as far back as November.

The report suggests Wenger will remain at the Gunners helm for a further two-years, despite mounting pressure from fans protesting for his 20-year stint at the club to cease.

Following a dismal season in which they failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in 20 years, discussions are still to be had between the Frenchmen and chief executive Ivan Gazidis in regards to the operation of the club.

The two main factors in the talks will surround the introduction of a sporting director – which Wenger passionately opposes – and the implementation of measures to help smoothen the transition from Wenger to his successor.

Given Wenger's desire to maintain 100% control of his squad, there is still a possibility that he may walk away from the job after Tuesday's meeting.
