British High Commissioner hails Gyan on newest milestone

Published on: 14 June 2017

Outgoing British high commissioner to Ghana Jon Benjamin has lauded Ghana Captain Asamoah Gyan on his 50th goal for the national team, the Black Stars.

Asamoah Gyan achieved the remarkable feat after scoring the opener in Ghana’s 5-0 thrashing of Ethiopia in the Africa Cup of nations qualifier.

The 31 year old joined the list of few footballers to have achieved that milestone for their country.

Ivorian legend Dedier Drogba, evergreen Cameroon striker Samuel Eto’o, Egypt’s Hossam Hassan and Zambia Godfrey Chitalu are the few to have scored 50or more goals for their nation.

With praises pouring all over the continent, the outgoing Bitisih High Commision Jon Benjamin tweeted,“Ayekoo, congrats to Asamoah Gyan @ASAMOAH_GYAN3 on his 50th Black Star goal for his country. Tremendous achievement!”
