Chelsea boss Antonio Conte declares Christian Atsu surplus to requirements

Christian Atsu for the umpteenth time in his Chelsea career is set for a loan spell away from the club.This comes after the 24-year-old was left-out of new Chelsea coach, Antonio Conte's 30-man squad for a pre-season tour of the USA.

Atsu failed to impress Conte in three pre-season games and the Italian has deemed him surplus to requirements. Atsu's compatriot, Baba Rahman was named in the squad.

Atsu who is in the third year of a five-year Chelsea contract is yet to play a competitive game for Chelsea and has already been loaned-out four times.

He was sent out on loan to Vitesse Arnhem immediately after his capture in 2013 where he impressed in the Dutch League.

Since then, he has had disastrous loan stints with Everton, Bournemouth and Malaga where he has struggled for game time.

However, there are several side interested in having him on loan once again. He is being sought after by Greek giants, Olympiakos, Malaga and Celta de Vigo.
