Newcastle United completed the permanent signing of Christian Atsu in the week.
Christian Atsu put pen to paper on a permanent deal after helping Newcastle win promotion back to the Premier League during his loan spell at St James’ Park.
The 25-year-old joined the Magpies after leaving Chelsea and became the first summer signing on Tyneside but they have already been dealt a setback.
Ghana Soccer Net have revealed that Atsu has had to undergo surgery.
Christian Atsu has undergone a minor operation on a knee injury and this will rule him out for four weeks.
The surgery took place on Wednesday in a London hospital and if all goes to plan, the Ghana international winger should be back in four weeks, which gives him time to do some pre-season before the Premier League campaign starts.
Atsu is the fourth Newcastle player to undergo surgery of late, following Jamie Sterry, Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Ritchie on the operating table.
