Ghana striker Jordan Ayew has hit top form for Crystal Palace in the English Premier League.

His recent outings for the side is causing problems for Christian Benteke who has been off for sometime.

He hasn't scored this term and has notched just twice in 2018 as he struggles to justify his £27million price tag.

Benteke missed Saturday's victory over Huddersfield with a knee injury with summer signing Jordan Ayew taking his place in the starting XI.

Manager Roy Hodgson was impressed with Ayew's contribution against David Wagner's side and is likely to persist with the Ghana forward for this weekend's clash against Newcastle even if Benteke proves his fitness.

Similarly, Benteke is now facing a long-term battle to fully convince the club that he can be the Eagles' first-choice centre-forward going forward.
