Published on: 29 July 2016

Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has said that Riyad Mahrez's career would be best served by staying with the club for at least one more season, adding that he believes the Algerian will remain at the King Power Stadium.

Speculation over Mahrez's future bubbled up again last weekend with reports that he would try to force an exit from last season's Premier League champions, but no move has yet looked close to completion.

Ranieri told Sky Sports:"I speak often with him and say stay with us, it's much better for your future, I think he is an intelligent man and he will stay.We support him very well, this is important, when you change teams maybe you don't find team-mates who help you at the same level.

"He improves more if he stays with us for another year, maybe next year he can think about another solution. If he goes for a lot of money, everybody will be expecting something special. He can do something special, but with us."

Meanwhile, theMailreport that last season's PFA Player of the Year is angling for a new contract at Leicester after deciding to stay, asking for wages in the region of £100,000-a-week as the Foxes gear up for a rare Champions League campaign.

Ranieri also told Sky that the club's move forPolish midfielder Bartosz Kapustka is yet to be finalised, saying: "It is not signed, I will speak when it is done. It's difficult to say this is the last player. I say yes, now it's finished, but 90 per cent, 10 per cent something will happen."
