Assistant Coach of the Black Stars B, Maxwell Konadu has humbly apologized to Ghanaians for the shocking disqualification to CHAN 2018, following the 2-1 defeat to neighbors Burkina Faso in Kumasi.

Ghana lost 2-1 at home to the local stallions, with goals from from Mohammed Sylla and Herman Nikiema inside 30 minutes. Substitute Felix Addo pulled one goal back for Ghana just before the hour mark but was not enough as the Black Stars B lost out on CHAN for the second time running.

The team that is headed technically by Kwesi Appiah has been under the supervision of Coach Maxwell Konadu for almost three months. The defeat on Sunday to Burkina Faso left the gaffer bereft of words but was quick to issue an apology to the fans.

“We have to start by saying that we are sorry for disappointing the very fans that has being behind this team all this while but what else can we say,”Konadu stated after the game.

“The boys did their best and we guided them to how to be victorious, but unfortunately for us that couldn’t happen.

“The boys are all down, so the mood in camp is not good but we think that it is football, we did whatever we had to do in order to reverse the scoreline but we couldn’t,” Konadu added.

Ghana has now failed to qualify for the tournament for the second time on a row after missing out in Rwanda 2016.

The Black Stars B's last appearance at the Championship of African Nations tournament saw the team reach the finals and eventually lost to Libya in South Africa.
