Assistant Coach of the senior national team the Black Stars, Maxwell Konadu remains cautiously optimistic of Ghana’s chances in the World Cup qualifiers for Russia 2018.

The Black Stars had a bad start to the World Cup qualifiers, picking just a point from two games following a draw and a defeat against Uganda and Egypt respectively.

Ghana lie third in Group E of the qualifiers and will next face Congo in a double header in September. With the chances of the Black Stars very slim, the former Wa All Stars coach believes the quest for another appearance at the global showpiece in not impossible.

"Qualifying for the 2018 World Cup is difficult but it is not impossible," he told Nhyira FM

"Looking at where we find ourselves today we’re at a very tight corner but nothing is impossible. We think with the materials we have at our disposal we can still qualify if we put things in other and work hard," he added.

"Honestly it’s difficult for us to qualify but nothing is impossible," Konadu concluded.

The Black Stars of Ghana have been at the last three World Cups, starting for Germany 2006 with their best performance being a quarter final feat.
