Guilherme Arana had also been linked with Barcelona.

Corinthians left-back Guilherme Arana is close to joining La Liga side Sevilla.

Arana, 20, had been a reported target for Barcelona and told reporters after his club won the Brazilian title on Wednesday: "Everything indicates that I'm leaving for Spain.

"From Barcelona, nothing official arrived to me, only from Sevilla.

"I can't even talk, I just have to thank Corinthians. I have always made it clear what my dream was. I want to play in Europe, and it's very close to happening.

"I'm very happy about it."

Corinthians reportedly turned down three offers from European clubs for Arana, who is under contract until the end of 2019, this summer.

The Sao Paulo-born player scored two goals and set up three more in 31 league appearances and said: "It's been a marvellous year for me, I've had good performances."

According to El Mundo Deportivo, Sevilla will pay Corinthians €11 million for Arana, who will sign a contract until June 2022.
