Defender Eric Donkor wants to stay at Kotoko, says his heart is with the club

Defender Eric Donkor has indicated his willingness tom stay at Kumasi Asante Kotoko, revealing the club is dear to his heart.

The left back is out of contract with the Porcupine Warriors but there has been delay in extending his contract.

The defender's name has popped up as one of the players to be put on the transfer list, following some underwhelming performances last season.

Meanwhile, reports in Kumasi also state the player's contract extension has been delayed because of the demands being tabled form Donkor's camp.

However, the 25 year old has refuted such claims, insisting he loves the club and would want to stay on for long.

“I have heard and read so many reports on social media speculating a lot of things but I will not comment because nothing is official yet.

“The team knows I have not quoted any such amount and my heart is with Kumasi Asante Kotoko,” he said.

Donkor joined Kumasi Asante Kotoko from Windy Professionals in 2011 and scored the winner as the club won the President Cup in 2016 against arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak on penalties.

The player has previously stated his desire to extend his contract but also added there are some clubs interested in his services.

"I am among the ten players whose contracts have expired in the team, and I don't know the plans of the coach for now. If he needs in the team, why not I will stay,” he said on Otec FM.

"I have received offers from two foreign football clubs and one local club, so we just wait to see. God knows what is good for me. But I won't play for any local whiles Kumasi Asante Kotoko still exists and needs me,” he revealed.
