Didi Dramani : Our inability to qualify cannot be described as a failure

Ghana U20 coach Masud Didi Dramani disagrees with talks that he has failed following the team’s inability to qualify for next year’s African Youth Championship. The Black Satellites could not book a ticket to next year’s AYC despite beating Senegal 1-0 at the Cape Coast Stadium on Friday.

Senegal went through on a 3-2 aggregate score line after their 3-1 win in the first leg.

With Ghana used to qualifying and playing well at the African Youth Championships, many have said coach Dramani who took over from Sellas Tetteh has done a great disservice to the nation.

But the former Black Maidens coach thinks otherwise, according to him, other aspects of their programme were achieved.

“We didn’t achieve what we had anticipated to have achieved but in terms of saying it is a failure I wouldn’t say so because some of these boys did not get the opportunity of coming this far but in terms of experience they have had a level of development,” he said

“We would have wished to have gone through in order to give this team a better facelift in order to achieve the objective we had set for the squad.

“Once we have life there is still the opportunity to get better and I know these boys will definitely get better.”
