Division two side Satellite City FC to represent Ghana at the Dallas Cup

Ghanaian second Division side, Satellite City Football Club will represent the country at the Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup in the United States this year. 

The competition which is the oldest youth tournament in the World will begin on March 25th and end on the 1st of April, 2018.

The Cup has tournaments for age groups ranging from U-13 to U-19. The FC Dallas U-18 academy team is the current champion of the U-19 Supergroup. However Satellite City will be involved in the U-18 countegory.

Several top clubs have accepted invitation to this years competition including English Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal, Tigres and Toronto FC.

The competition has produced top notch players including former Captain of the United States Clint Dempsey and ex-Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore.

Upon receipt of invitation to the tournament, Chief Executive Officer of Satellite City Fc, Samuel Yeboah expressed excitement on being a participant of the competition and as the first Ghanaian club to represent the country.

"First of all, i'm really proud of my team. It's not easy to get an invitation to a tournament like this, so i'm really happy Satellite City is going to represent Eastern Region and Ghana as a whole at this tournament," he told footballghana.com.

Mr. Yeboah revealed how Satellite City were selected for the competition, which has been rare for Clubs from Ghana to get a chance to participate in.

"We have a FIFA agent in the United States, who was able to work out things for us. So we took our particulars from the Eastern Regional Football Association and we forwarded them to him and he sent our particulars, they check and they responded positively," he added.

The club that was established just a little over a year ago have cemented their status as a powerhouse in the Eastenrn Region, playing some good football and creating a solid fan base.

According to Samuel Yeboah, the Club will go to the United States with the target of winning the competition and represent Ghana and Africa proudly.

"Satellite City is a second division side based in Nsawam, established 2016 September, so we are a year and some months, i can say we are one of the powerhouse in Eastern Region," he said.

"We are really prepared for the tournament, we are going to the tournament to win the competition for Ghana and Africa,"

"We are the third African team to play in the competition, the previous two from Nigeria won the competition so we want to go and win it, so we get the chance to compete again," he concluded.
