General Manager of Elmina Sharks, George Wiredu says his outfit is incurring extra cost over the delay of the delay of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League.
The commencement of the new campaign has been postponed after Great Olympics served the Ghana Football Association with a second court injunction.
According to him, the team recruited new players to improve their squad in anticipation that the season will start so they can recoup some revenue to offset their debts explaining that, the more the competition’s fate hangs in a balance, there more cost clubs like Elmina Sharks incur.
“The league delay has made us incur extra cost,” he stated.
“We will not let that stop us from preparing for the league season.
"Football is a whole lot of things. The new players that will need time to [settle] and by the time the league starts, they will be doing well,” said George Wiredu in a media interaction.
Elmina Sharks have targeted a top four finished and have tasked coach Yaw Acheampong and his deputy, Felix Aboagye to work hard to put the team in shape.
