Enyimba attacking winger, Ezekiel Bassey, has said that qualification for the 2016 CHAN in Rwanda is only halfway concluded.
Bassey and his Nigerian teammates will take a 2-0 advantage to Burkina Faso for this weekend's second leg game in the African Nations Championship (Chan) qualification.
The winger despite being confident that Nigeria's Super Eagles will qualify for the Chan finals at the expense of their Burkina Faso counterparts, the Stallions, still knows that the job has to be finished in the second meeting this weekend.
"It was good to win 2-0 in the first leg because that takes off the pressure from us. But we also need to know that the game has not been won yet because there is a second leg to play in Burkina Faso and that is where we need to stay strong and remain focused till the end of the match.
"I believe we have a very good group to win this game and qualify for the Chan. We have coaches who have been like big brothers and fathers and have taught some things in addition to what we already know. But we are very focused on the game in Burkina Faso because we all want to play at the Chan next year," said Bassey.
The former Akwa United man believes that to achieve the target of reaching the Chan, himself and his Super Eagles teammates must approach the contest in Burkina Faso like they never won the first in Port Harcourt at the weekend.
"No way are we carried away by our 2-0 win in the first leg. Like I said we are very, very focused and we want to be at the Chan next year. A number of us have never played in any major international competition before and this is a good chance for us to do so," said Bassey to supersport.com.
Bassey, who has been one of the pivots in Enyimba's title charge in the Nigerian top-flight, is available for selection ahead of this weekend's return leg in Burkina Faso.
