Erik Durm tears ankle ligament as injury woes continue

Erik Durm's comeback has been waylaid by yet another injury.

Borussia Dortmund's Erik Durm is set for another spell on the sidelines after tearing an ankle ligament, the Bundesliga club said on Thursday.

Durm, 25, suffered the injury to his right ankle in training on Wednesday.

The defender had just returned to action after recovering from hip surgery in September. He had played in two club friendlies earlier this month and was named to the bench for Sunday's draw against Wolfsburg.

"The team has already wished him a speedy recovery," Dortmund said in a statement on Thursday.

The Germany international was also limited to 13 Bundesliga appearances last season and 14 in 2015-16 after a pair of knee surgeries.
