Everton learn Europa League opponents

Everton have learned their season against Slovakian or Norwegian opposition in the Europa League later this month.

Subject to final UEFA confirmation over the dates, the big-spending Toffees will host Ruzomberok, of Slovakia, or FK Brann, of Norway, in their first competitive match of the season on July 27.

The second leg takes place on August 3.

Everton faced Brann in the 2007/08 competition, beating them 8-1 over two legs in what was a last-32 tie.

They seem likely to meet again with the Norwegians having won 1-0 in Slovakia on Thursday night.

Ronald Koeman's men will need to win in both the third qualifying and play-off rounds if they are to reach the group stage. If they are to lift the trophy in Lyon next May, they will end up playing 19 matches in the competition, meaning a minimum of 59 games in their 2017/18 campaign.
