Everton have reportedly opened talks with Manchester United to sign unwanted duo Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin.

According toThe Sun, talks were held in the boardroom ahead of the 1-1 draw between the two sidesat Goodison Park on Sunday.

Both Depay and Schneiderlin have failed to break into Jose Mourinho's plans since his arrival in the summer, and both are likely to be available in January.

With Everton boss Ronald Koeman expected to have a budget of around £60m to spend, both could be realistic deals in the upcoming transfer window.

Depay is the Toffees main target, although United are said to want to recoup most of the £25m they payed PSV to bring the 22-year-old to Old Trafford.

The Dutch winger could be made available for loan, with Roma one of the clubs that may attempt to rival Everton for his signature.

Koeman admitted his interest in Depay last month when he toldFox Sports:"I would like to have him. I think he is an interesting player. He has great individual qualities. He just needs to play games."

Ronald Koeman already expressed interest in Memphis Depay. Bolasie's serious injury make it even more likely he will try to sign him in Jan.

Schneiderlin meanwhile is said to be frustrated at his lack of game time this season and could be open to a reunion with former Southampton manager Koeman.

Premier League champions Leicester, as well as West Brom and AC Milan have also shown interest in the Frenchman, but Everton are favourites to complete a deal.

Koeman is reportedly eager to pair Schneiderlin with impressive summer signingIdrissa Gueye in midfield.
