Everton look set to fail in their pursuit of Juventus goalkeeper Norberto Neto after his agent confirmed toSports Witnessthat 'there is absolutely no chance' of a potential switch.

Earlier in the summer it wasreportedthat Everton were closing in on a deal for Neto in order to replace the departing Tim Howard.

But new boss Ronald Koeman decided to swoop in for veteran keeperMaarten Stekelenburg instead, postponing a potential deal for Neto until next summer.

Neto's agent confirmed that there was interest in the Brazilian keeperby saying 'yeah, in summer', but he then ruled out a future mo by saying there is 'absolutely no chance' of an upcoming switch.

WhileStekelenburg has impressed between the sticks at Goodison Park so farthis season, Koeman isstill on the hunt for a goalkeeper to replace the 34-year-old Dutchman next summer.

But unfortunately for the Toffees that won't be Neto, who signed for Juventus last summer before going on to appear three times for the Old lady last season.

The 27-year-old shot stopper joined the Italian champions in 2015 after spending four seasons at Fiorentina, but due to the consistency of stalwart Gianluigi Buffon, Neto has struggled to break into the Juventus first-team, prompting speculation of a move away from Turin.

Everton, meanwhile, have started the 2016/17 campaign in fine form under new boss Koeman, picking up 14 points from their opening seven games.

Next up for Koeman's side is a daunting trip to league-leaders Manchester City, who scupperedtheir 100 per cent record this season by losing to Tottenham last weekend.
