​Everton take solid advantage to Croatia after win over Hajduk Split

Everton defeated Hajduk Split 2-0 at Goodison Park in the first leg of their Europa League play-off tie on Thursday night.

The win is a significant step towards qualification for the Europa League group stages.

First half goals from Michael Keane and Idrissa Gueye allowed for the Toffees to take full control of the match.

Jordan Pickford was huge in the second half, with the visitors increasing the intensity. The 23-year old denied Hamza Barry, Ante Erceg and Hysen Memolla to help maintain a clean sheet for Ronald Koeman's side
