Ex- Hearts defender Dan Quaye wants better wages for local players

Former Accra Hearts of Oak defender Dan Quaye has called on club owners and manager to pay good wages to local players to help stop the rampant exodus.

The 37 year old blamed the poor standard of the game in Ghana to low wages. According to Dan Quaye a lot of players leave the league prematurely because they are unable to survive on their meager wages.

Some players take as low as GHC 200, which the veteran defender believes is not helping the game and wants the owners of the club to have corporate sponsors on board who will support their activities.

"It's disappointing our players are chasing deals in Zambia and Kenya and that's because they are not payed well enough. If the players take home GHC 3000 home a month, they can make something out of their life but taking GHC 200 and GHC 300 is an insult," he told Happy FM.

"So I urge the authorities to look for corporate sponsors who can support the club's financially to help improve the conditions of the players."

Dan Quaye, who s currently a free agent after ending his stay with Accra Great Olympics insists he is ready to join any club that wants his services.

"I'm ready to play for any team because now I don't have any contact with Accra Great Olympics," he said.

The former Black Stars player was part of the Ghana team that represented Ghana at the FIFA World Cup in 2006 in Germany.

Dan Quaye won the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederations Cup with Accra Hearts of Oak, including multiple domestic titles.
