MANCHESTER -- Manchester United and Manchester City have both been given extra time to hand over their version of events to the Football Association following the confrontation in the Old Trafford tunnel after Sunday's derby game.
The FA originally asked the clubs to provide their observations by 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
However, that deadline has now been extended until 6 p.m. on Friday.
An FA spokesman said: Manchester United and Manchester City have both been given extra time to provide their observations following reports of an incident after Sunday's game. They now have until 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15."
Players and staff from both clubs were involved in the incident in the corridor connecting the two dressing rooms following the game.
Sources have told ESPN FC that the bust-up was triggered by "very vocal" celebrations from City's dressing room following their 2-1 win.
Both City and United maintain they have done nothing wrong.
Pep Guardiola said on Tuesday he was confident his team's celebrations were appropriate, while Mourinho suggested the visitors had lacked respect, calling the issue a "diversity of behaviour and education."
