Fabianski relishing new chapter at West Ham

Published on: 20 June 2018

Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski says he's joining West Ham at an "exciting time" after completing his £7million move from Swansea City.

The Hammers have been busy in the transfer window following the appointment of Manuel Pellegrini as head coach and Mario Husillos as director of football, bringing in centre-back Issa Diop and defender Ryan Fredericks.

They have now made their third signing of the summer with the capture of Fabianski, who is currently at the World Cup 2018 with Poland, watching from the bench as they lost 2-1 to Senegal on Tuesday.

The Londoners were in need of a new goalkeeper after Joe Hart's loan spell from Manchester City came to an end, while Adrian struggled when called upon last season.

The 33-year-old has signed a three-year deal to bring the curtain down on a four year stint with Swansea, signing off at the Liberty Stadium by winning the Player of the Year award last season as the Welsh outfit were relegated.

The former Arsenal shot stopper is happy to be making the move to West Ham and is eager to play a big part of the Pellegrini era.

"I'm really happy to be joining at such an exciting time here," he said.

"I will do my best on and off the pitch to help the team to achieve the best results possible and can't wait to start this new chapter of my career."

Meanwhile, director of football Husillos added: "Lukasz is an experienced and established Premier League goalkeeper, with great quality that he has shown at both domestic and international level.

"He fits perfectly the mould of the modern goalkeeper, with excellent agility, presence and distribution, and will bring strong competition to the position."

Having flirted with relegation last season, West Ham are 20/1 for a top six finish next season under Pellegrini.

The Hammers kick-off the campaign away at Liverpool and are 10/1 to win the game, with the Reds 2/7 and the draw 4/1.
