FIFA U-17 World Cup: Black Starlets center-back Abdul Razak ruled out of final group game

Published on: 10 October 2017

Black Starlets defender Abdul Razak Yussif has been ruled out of the final group game against India at the ongoing FIFA under-17 world cup.

The player was unconscious after colliding with U.S.A captain Josh Sergent on Monday. Ghana lost to the Americans by a lone goal from Ayo Akinola.

Yussif had to be rushed off the pitch with Ghana playing the last ten minutes of the game with ten men.

The defender was sent to the Fortis Escort Heart hospital in New Delhi where he has regained consciousness but will not be rushed into the game against the host as he returns to fitness.

The absence of the player means Dreams FC defender John Otu is likely to replace him at the heart of the defense.

Ghana will play India on Thursday knowing a win will send them through to the round of 16. However, a draw could also send them through depending on the results between Colombia and the United States.

The added advantage is that the Black Starlets could still finish third in their group and will advance as one of the best third placed team.
