FIFA U-17 World Cup: India Coach Luis Norton insists strong Ghana deserved win

Published on: 12 October 2017

India under-17 Coach Luis Norton De Matos says Ghana deserved the emphatic win against his side, following the 4-0 defeat on Thursday ending the host journey in the tournament.

Ghana Captain Eric Ayiah scored a brace before Richard Danso and Emmanuel Toku scored the others to ensure the Africans progress.

However, India’s journey ended after the defeat and Portuguese Coach of the Indian team Luis Norton de Matos explained after the game Ghana were too strong for his side.

“Ghana deserved the victory, they were stronger than us,” he said after the game.

De Matos was concerned with the number of games played within a week but still insisted the Ghanaians were a better and experience side.

“My fear about the game was that, it was the third game in 9 days for these players because it was the first time they were playing at this level. But, they had a very good first half, the players improve very well,”

“In the second half, we made three silly mistakes, we lost the ball three times in forbidden zones and Ghana is a very very powerful team,”

“Congratulations to the team because they play much more than every body expected of them.”

The Black Starlets will find out their next opponents after the first round of game finishes tomorrow.
