Takyi Arhin slams Ghana Normalization Committee as 'job for the boy', wants Abbey & Fianko

Football administrator Takyi Arhin has launched a fierce attack on the Normalization Committee for the Ghana FA, slamming those selected to work on the body as undeserving by describing them as being given the derogatory 'job for the boys'.

The Eleven Wonders FC is of the view that ex-GFA spokesperson Randy Abbey and former Division One League chairman Ntow Fianko should have been on the Normalization Committee to help return the game to its normal state like the league matches with NetBet Sport among some of the firms offering odds for the games.

A four-member committee was announced last week to over see the affairs of Ghana Football Association until fresh elections are organized to have a new president of the association.

FIFA on September 13 nominated four persons to constitute a Normalization Committee that will run Ghana football and organise the election of new executives of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The Committee led by business Dr Kofi Amoah also has former Airtel Ghana CEO, Lucy Quist and Lawyer Dua Adonten (Former Kotoko Board member).

Naa Odofoley Nortey (a Board member of the Attorney General's Department - Legal Aid Scheme) is also a member but Arhin believes those given the job do not deserve the post.

“Some names like Randy Abbey, Lawyer Ntow Fianko would have been perfect” Arhin told Metro FM.

“If the sports ministry had some wider consultations they would not have recommended these names to us.” he added.

“Who is Lucy Quist. Who is Naa Odofoley Nortey. What do they know in football business?” The Eleven Wonders FC chief quizzed.

“Apart from Lawyer Duah Adonteng the rest of the members in the committee know nothing about the game. I will say it is job for the boys.” he concluded.

The Normalisation Committee members will run the GFA's daily affairs and cooperate with the special task force once it has been set up by FIFA, CAF and the Government of Ghana.

They will also review the GFA statutes to ensure compliance with the requirements of FIFA and CAF, particularly art. 15 of the FIFA Statutes and once the GFA statutes meet the requirements of FIFA and CAF, to organize and conduct elections of a GFA executive committee on the basis of the revised GFA statutes.

The specified period of time during which the normalization committee shall perform its functions shall expire when all of the above-mentioned tasks have been properly fulfilled, but by no later than 31 March 2019.
