Former Captain of the national team of Ghana, the Black Stars, John Mensah has advised the Black Starlets to avoid complacency ahead of their round of 16 clash with Niger at the FIFA under-17 world cup in India.

The Black Starlets will be playing the menas of Niger for the fourth time this year having won the previous three games.

Ghana topped group A after winning two of her group games against Colombia and India with Niger only managing to make it to round of 16 after finishing as one of the best third place teams.

Meanwhile, former Ghana captain John Mensah and who was also a former member of the Black Starlets says the players should not be carried away by the impressive 4-0 win over India.

“They shouldn’t be complacent at all, going into their next game against Niger, they should play their hearts out. They shouldn’t think that because they won 4-0 against India it will be easy, it will be difficult but I believe in them, I know they can do it” he told Asempa sports.

Mensah also wants the Black Starlets team to follow instructions issued by the Coach.

“The players should make sure they stay together, listen to the coach and try as much as they can to avoid mistakes and fight for the nation” he advised.

Ghana are two times Champions of the FIFA under-17 world Cup, last winning it in 1995, 22 years ago.
