Former Chelsea winger Gael Kakuta switch to play for DR Congo ahead of France

Former Chelsea winger Gael Kakuta is set to snub France to pursue his international career with DR Congo.

Kakuta has represented France at every youth level but his recent decision to play for DR Congo could be based on his frequent snub by the French senior team.

The 25-year-old Hebei China Fortune player was earlier invited in 2011 to play for DR Congo by then coach Claude Leroy but failed to play for them.

Kakuta's decision to play for DR Congo could see him play in next year's AFCON.
